Parish Info

Norwell has a history dating back to at least the Domesday Book (1086) where it gets a mention as the village of Nortwelle. At that time the village boasted a church, a priest and a watermill.

The parish consists of Norwell, Norwell Woodhouse and village of Willoughby which is now deserted. The parish population is now around 450 but has fluctuated above and below this in its history, with a peak of 800 in the 1860s.

Norwell has a thriving community active in an array of different groups and institution. As well as a grade I listed church the village is also lucky to have a school, pre-school, village shop, village hall and pub. Other facilities include a village play park, allotments, sports ground and newly added to the list; a shiny website.
