Saturday 6th April 2019 - Spring Show at Norwell Village Hall

Norwell Garden Club held their Annual Spring Show on Saturday 6th April in the village hall. The early sign of spring in February prompted some of the daffodils to show themselves but there was still a very good display along with tulips and a wonderful selection of flowering shrubs. Including the new baking section there were over 130 exhibits.

Mrs Sheila Davenport won the Most Points in Show Award and other winners were Mrs Izzy Cross, Mrs Janet McGill and Mrs Kritsupa Grief who won the newly created baking section award.

Over 40 members and guests came to see the wonderful display and to enjoy a chat along with tea and cakes and to sample the award- winning home- made sausage rolls! Mrs Sally Adamson (Chairperson) thanked all who, yet again, had done so much for putting on an excellent event.

Saturday 1st September 2018 - Autumn Show

The Autumn Show was held on Saturday 1st September in the village hall. Members have certainly been challenged this year with the weather, from the icy blasts in the winter to the withering heat of July and August but they still managed to put on a wonderful display. There were 168 exhibits this year some 50 lower than last year reflecting the challenges faced in the garden.

Sheila Davenport scooped six prizes including most points in show for both vegetables and flowers and overall most points in the show, Lorraine Pilgrim retained the trophy for the best vase of garden flowers and Iain Gibson won the man in the kitchen trophy, perhaps the first of many?

Nearly 40 people came to see the displays and enjoyed tea and delicious home- made cakes to end an enjoyable afternoon. Sally Adamson, Chairman of Norwell Garden Club, said “I am so pleased that the members were able to put on such a great display despite the challenging weather. It has been a successful afternoon”.

Judges were John Gregory-flowers, Les Graham -vegetables and Helen Crowder- Baking and Preserves.

John Gregory announced that this would be his last show as he is retiring from judging.

Thursday 7th June 2018 - Rose Show Summer Supper

Tim Webster won the award for the display of mixed garden flowers and Lorraine Pilgrim won the trophy for the vase of mixed roses.

Pat Foulds and Everett Batty dominated the awards sharing the Davenport Trophy for the most points in the daffodil section. Everett also won the Best Bloom and Best Tulip Awards but Pat Foulds won the overall award for the Most Points in Show Award.
