Welcome to Norwell Online - website for the Parish of Norwell in Nottinghamshire, UK

From December A fresh fish van from Grimsby has been visiting the village with a selection of fresh fish and sea food. The van is run by a very polite chap called Dean who stops outside the village shop every Wednesday at around 11 am. He supplies an good selection of traditional fish, such as haddock and cod, as well as more up market (and frankly delicious) varieties including sea bass. He also supplies a good selection of shell fish and seafood including cockles, mussels, shrimps and eel. If you would like something he doesn't stock then he is also happy to take requests either by phone or just let him know to bring it the following week.

Having visited him twice myself I can vouch for the freshness of his fish and the reasonableness of his prices. He also has a good ethical understanding of his stock and can give you the provenance of everything he sells (unlike the fish counter staff at several supermarkets I could mention!). Dean mainly sources locally and goes for line caught fish where possible. Line catching fish is a centuries old method that is well understood to be more sustainable than traditional trawling methods.

See you down there on Wednesday! For more info ask Brenda.
